That wide array of outdoor and cultural offerings, plus a local economy that is slowly improving, is helping to boost this once-ailing housing market.

WASHINGTON – Jan. 26, 2012 – Wyoming, Florida and Texas rank among the 10 best states for taxes on business, while companies in states like New York, New Jersey and California have a far less pleasant tax climate, according to the Tax Foundation’s State Business Tax Climate Index, now in its 8th edition. |

Sarasota County ranked 4th, according to a published ranking of the state's school districts released today. The rankings, from best to worst, are based on standardized test scores and other variables, say state education officials. With the release of the rankings, Florida today became one of the only states in the country to publish such a ranking of all its school districts. The ranking is intended to give parents and taxpayers a quick way to judge how their money is being spent and how well their children are learning. |
